Yet again life has got in the way of the blog. When is it ever not busy??? These pictures were taken weeks ago and I thought I wouldn’t be able to use them but the top is actually still in stock at Next.  There’s no getting away from statement sleeves at the moment and I think they make an everyday jeans and trainers type outfit a lot more interesting.  There is, however, a downside in that they can get in the way if you’re doing a bit of housework or cooking. My solution? Put your feet up and deliveroo (is that a verb).

I also want to point out the necklace which I think looks really high end but is, in fact, from H&M.  And the belt was my Mother’s Day present to myself (thanks kids). Not cheap, but I’ve already worn it so much that cost-per-wear it’s a bargain.

Muttonblog has had a bit of a break but I’m back in time for Christmas and looking forward to 2017. It’s got to be better than 2016, right? Anyway, the tagline now needs to be updated so maybe I should change it from:

 Almost 50  to Embracing 50

Nest Almost Empty to Nest Was Empty But Is Now Full Again

Never Giving Up – I reckon that can stay the same.

And what better way to restart the blog than with this coat from good old Marks & Spencer. It brilliantly combines three current trends: velvet, burgundy and nightwear as daywear. Some of the reviews on the M&S website aren’t great because of the whole looking like you’re wearing a dressing gown outside thing but if you want to be stylish and stand out from the crowd I think this look really works.

I was having coffee with a friend a few weeks ago when a woman came into the cafe wearing this gorgeous black linen tunic. Super long sleeves, which I love, and slightly off the shoulder, which I also love. She looked stunning and I had to ask her where the top was from. I’m so glad I did because she’s the designer, Mercy Ogole. Check out her fabulous collection here.  I actually bought the tunic at Wolf & Badger in Mayfair which is brimful of young design talent. Not only do they sell clothes and accessories but original jewellery and homeware too. There were so many things I wanted I had to stop looking, but with Christmas coming up maybe I’ll be lucky …

I’ve had a bit of a blogging break over the summer, mainly due to the rubbish weather and the fact that I’ve hardly worn any of my summer wardrobe. At least we seem to have had a bit of an Indian summer and while I plan my first few blogs for autumn (think cosy coats and capes, slouchy sweaters and all things autumnal) these are a few of the outfits I did manage to wear when it wasn’t raining.

The off the shoulder/ Bardot/ peasant blouse is my new favourite top. I wore this outfit to a dinner party in France last month and I’m now loving the top with cut off denim shorts and sandals. In fact I’ve just ordered one in white (watch this space). The slight downside is that arm movement can be slightly restricted but hey, if it looks good…

When I saw that a new accessories shop was opening just down the road I was obviously interested –  a girl can’t have enough bags, right? And O Bag Factory is bag heaven.  Its unique concept means that you can customise not only bags but watches and sunglasses too. I bought a standard O Bag in rock and added the Murmasky faux fur trim in natural. I couldn’t decide between the faux leather handles in gold or silver so I bought them both and change them according to my outfit. I’ll be going back to customise my bag for spring/summer and will probably have to pick up some shades too…

The jumpsuit was another trend that I wasn’t sure about for someone pushing fifty, but when I found this reduced to £9.99 in the Zara sale I knew I had to give it a go. And I love it. So easy to wear with a white cami, my wear-with-everything Adidas Superstars and a cute mini bag and I think it would look just as fab with heels and some statement earrings for a night out.

Now that March is here and Spring is starting to make its presence felt,  it’s time to find an alternative to my much loved ankle boots. These Adidas Superstar shell toe trainers are so fresh and bright they lift any outfit and will see me through until Summer.

I love this boxy bag from & Other Stories. So perfect for keeping my phone close (and avoiding that where’s my phone?!? anxiety) on non-jeans days when I don’t have a handy pocket.

Brooches might seem a bit of an old fashioned accessory but lately I’ve noticed them popping up in several fashion features. My trusty denim jacket is the perfect backdrop for them. And why wear just one…?
