Mini bags are a trend that’s still going strong but what do you do when you’ve got loads of stuff to cart around?  Why, invest in a giant tote bag of course.  Oversized bags are everywhere but these exclusive leather trimmed camouflage beauties are designed by North London’s Emily Newson. They’re just one string to her very talented bow – check out her instagram @emnews72 and prepare to be wowed.

The bags come in different shapes and sizes with a choice of trim. After much deliberation I went for the biggest and chose the pink metallic trim (pink is going to be huge, trust me).  I also customised my bag with some iron on patches by Jennie Maizels

You can usually find a selection of Emily’s bags at Margot in Crouch End and while you’re there book a treatment or invest in some Mish London pyjamas. It’s January. It’s cold. There’s no Picpoul until February. Now is the time for some pampering!

Muttonblog has had a bit of a break but I’m back in time for Christmas and looking forward to 2017. It’s got to be better than 2016, right? Anyway, the tagline now needs to be updated so maybe I should change it from:

 Almost 50  to Embracing 50

Nest Almost Empty to Nest Was Empty But Is Now Full Again

Never Giving Up – I reckon that can stay the same.

And what better way to restart the blog than with this coat from good old Marks & Spencer. It brilliantly combines three current trends: velvet, burgundy and nightwear as daywear. Some of the reviews on the M&S website aren’t great because of the whole looking like you’re wearing a dressing gown outside thing but if you want to be stylish and stand out from the crowd I think this look really works.

What I’m wearing: Coat: M&S | Cashmere Sweater: H&M | Jeans: Zara | Boots: Sam Edelman | Sunglasses: Miu Miu | Bag: O Bag | Dog Coat and Lead: model’s own

When I saw O Bag had some limited edition bags recently I had to add one to my collection. This O Bag Classic in silver on white  is just gorgeous and I added handles, inner bag and fur trim from my ever growing collection of O Bag accessories. The fun thing about O Bag is trying out different combinations to customise the bags and make them unique to you.  I’m already planning to remove the fur and add white patent handles for a cool summer look.

I bought these ankle boots in the Next sale a few seasons ago and just came across them in the back of my wardrobe.  I’m not very good with a heel for everyday but these are just the right height not to be annoying and the blue jazzes up my jeans and makes a change from my usual black or tan ankle boots.  Sadly they’re no longer available but you can find similar at Top Shop and Ash. I also think they’ll look amazing with this dress by Norma Kamali which is on my wish list for Spring. Stripes are going to be HUGE …

I’m not one for going out on Saturday night, I’d much rather light some candles, crack open a bottle of red and and catch up with the latest scandi noir on tv. However, that doesn’t mean that I’m slobbing on the sofa in my trackie bottoms (although admittedly sometimes I am).  I’ve just added these feather print shorts from mish.London to my extensive loungewear collection. I discovered them last time I was getting a treatment at Margot London and with a little black vest and super comfy slippers , both from Next, my Saturday night outfit is complete.

Wandering down Carnaby Street a few weeks ago I spotted this stunning coat in the window of Supertrash. I tried it on and realised it would be extremely foolish not to buy it. Not only is it super warm but the colour is perfect for brightening up any outfit on a drab autumnal day. It was my first visit to Supertrash but I’ve now added it to my list of go-to shops in the West End, obvs.

I was having coffee with a friend a few weeks ago when a woman came into the cafe wearing this gorgeous black linen tunic. Super long sleeves, which I love, and slightly off the shoulder, which I also love. She looked stunning and I had to ask her where the top was from. I’m so glad I did because she’s the designer, Mercy Ogole. Check out her fabulous collection here.  I actually bought the tunic at Wolf & Badger in Mayfair which is brimful of young design talent. Not only do they sell clothes and accessories but original jewellery and homeware too. There were so many things I wanted I had to stop looking, but with Christmas coming up maybe I’ll be lucky …

What better than a trip to Barbados to showcase the versatility of my new O bag? The magenta pink was stunning in the Caribbean sunshine and I loved matching the handles to my outfit every day. My first stop when i get back to London?? Obviously the O Bag Factory store in Crouch End to see what’s new and to start planning my autumn O bag looks.

I’ve had a bit of a blogging break over the summer, mainly due to the rubbish weather and the fact that I’ve hardly worn any of my summer wardrobe. At least we seem to have had a bit of an Indian summer and while I plan my first few blogs for autumn (think cosy coats and capes, slouchy sweaters and all things autumnal) these are a few of the outfits I did manage to wear when it wasn’t raining.

Mini Break 2: Camisole: Primark | Skirt: Next | Sandals: Teva

I probably wear more black than any other colour but with these flashes of white this is a perfect outfit for brightening up yet another dull summer day. It’s also a good excuse to reinvent my trusty O bag with a new floral trim and white patent handles.

What I’m wearing: Top: New Look | Culottes: Next | Trainers: Adidas | Sunglasses: Vintage | Necklace: Accessorize | Bag: O Bag | Bag charm: Julie La Fee
