I probably wear more black than any other colour but with these flashes of white this is a perfect outfit for brightening up yet another dull summer day. It’s also a good excuse to reinvent my trusty O bag with a new floral trim and white patent handles.

What I’m wearing: Top: New Look | Culottes: Next | Trainers: Adidas | Sunglasses: Vintage | Necklace: Accessorize | Bag: O Bag | Bag charm: Julie La Fee

It might be raining in London today but this is my new favourite outfit when the sun’s out. I found the ASOS top while I was browsing LIKEtoKNOW on Instagram. Once you’ve signed up you get sent an email with the details of every outfit you’ve liked on the LIKEtoKNOW Instagram feed. Genius. The beautiful embroidered basket is from Comptoir Libanais. Each restaurant has an amazing display of baskets in different styles and colours, and the food’s pretty special too.

What I’m wearing: Shorts: River Island | Top: Asos | Sandals: Birkenstock | Basket: Comptoir Libanais

When I started this blog my aim was to show how it’s still possible to look and feel stylish regardless of age. At almost fifty I  still love fashion and I don’t see why women my age shouldn’t follow current trends as much as twentysomething fashionistas.  But I also love love love reading so I thought I would recommend some of my recent favourite books and also share the pile of new books I’m hoping to work my way through during the summer holidays. If you have any recommendations I’d love to hear them …

What I recommend: Instrumental – James Rhodes | The Paying Guests – Sarah Waters | In The Unlikely Event – Judy Blume | A Spool of Blue Thread – Anne Tyler | I Saw A Man – Owen Sheers

What I’m reading: Romany and Tom – Ben Watt | The Mark and the Void – Paul Murray | Summer House with Swimming Pool – Herman Koch | The Versions of Us – Laura Barnett | The Last Act of Love – Cathy Rentzenbrink | A Book For Her – Bridget Christie | A God in Ruins – Kate Atkinson
